Meet Captain Tommy Compton
From South Florida Roots to Fort Myers Flats – Meet the Local Guide Who Lives to Fish
Captain Tommy was born and raised in Miami, FL, where his love for fishing began before he could even walk. One of his earliest memories involves sitting on a dock, getting pulled in by a fish, and clinging to a piling with one hand while holding his rod in the other—just like his dad told him: “Whatever you do, don’t let go of that rod.” That moment sparked a lifelong passion that would define not just his childhood but his career. Fishing became more than a hobby; it became a way of life.
Growing up in South Florida, Tommy spent countless days exploring the waters of the Everglades and Biscayne Bay. He’s fished everything from hidden creeks and remote ponds to lakes and coastal flats—building a deep, hands-on knowledge of how fish behave in different environments. Over the years, he has developed a particular passion for targeting iconic species like Snook, Redfish, Tarpon, Bonefish, and Permit. Whether stalking fish in the shallows or casting into mangrove-lined channels, he’s always up for the challenge.
Captain Tommy enjoys the art of the catch just as much as the thrill. While he often uses artificial lures for a more technical and rewarding experience, he’s also well-versed in live bait techniques when conditions call for it. His goal is simple: to pass on what he’s learned and create lasting memories on the water. Every trip is a chance to teach, learn, and share the unique excitement that comes with fishing in Southwest Florida.
